Chin Up!

Another university project in response to Creative Conscience competition briefs:

Health + Well-being | Social Issues | Climate Crisis | The natural word | Education + Learning

Each brief is a chance to create solutions and provocations that have the potential to provoke action and have a genuine impact.

Co-Founders and CEOs Carmen Lucas and Farzaneh Heidari created Chin Up with teenage girls in mind.

Being that both of them are women of colour/minority,  not only are they aware, but have witnessed young girls and young women being silenced when it comes to speaking up about abuse and assault directed towards women.

In countries such as Angola and Iran (which are the countries that both of the founders are from), girls do not have the option to receive support, help or knowledge that they might need about this topic. Making a lot of girls and women believe that they are alone in these circumstances, giving them a sense of hopelessness.

Issue & Cause

Abuse and Assault towards women are not isolated incidents in our society. This affects thousands of women and girls nationwide. This is a social issue that affects both men and women alike. Many of these women that have experienced assault or abuse, go later in life to become someone’s mother, aunt, and grandmother. Being respectable members of society, while still holding on to hurting and trauma of the abuse/assault they once suffered.

There is no secret that women and girls that have experienced this kind of reality later on in life develop emotional and mental issues. Going through a lot of hurt, pain and even shame due to the experience. This platform is giving girls the opportunity to understand and come to terms with the events that they have experienced, starting their healing process early.

Our goal

Our goal is to provide much-needed support and digital sanctuary for young girls that have or are currently experiencing abuse or assault.

Chin up! was created to be a platform where young victims are to be relieved of any embarrassment and shame that is associated with these circumstances. We want to give young girls not only a voice but hope as well. Chin Up would be a platform where young victims will be believed, and chat with other survivors and victims alike. Giving them the option and opportunity to receive the mental and emotional help that they need.

Our aim is to provide much-needed support and digital sanctuary for young girls that have or are currently experiencing abuse or assault.
